The Consequence Bag

Harry, now 8 years old, was only 3 at the time of the following story.  I was looking through old emails when I found this one, made me chuckle and I definitely don't want to forget this one.  Aunt Queena arrives tomorrow and we are wondering what new words of wisdom she will have for us!  We love our Aunt Queena!

Story as written by Nana Texas:

Ashley, known to our family as "Queena," went to visit her older sister and family in KS last week.

Sometime over this past weekend, Aunt Queena suggested to Harry (yes, The Harry) that they decorate a Consequences Bag for use after two warnings of transgressions to the Family Rules.

Harry was delighted with decorating the bag and then he sat with Mommy as he thought up and she wrote down consequences on strips of paper.  It is my understanding that if Harry gets x number of warnings, then he has to draw a strip from the bag.

All was good and well, then Aunt Queena left this Monday to return to her own ailing husband.

Harry misbehaved at dinner Monday night.  His mommy gave him a warning.  The behavior continued.  Harry was told that he would have to draw from the bag.  His consequence was no gum the next day.

Amy said that Harry screwed his face up and said, "I like Queena, but I don't like Queen's menses bag!"

Ah, out of the mouth's of babes.

Of course, Queena has always worked in the field of children: Child Protective Services, CASA of Collin County, and now the non-profit organization which deals with adoptions and education.

Aunt Queena's story is that she's been in a lot of classes and heard presentations and this idea sounded good to her.  Harry the Guinea Pig????

Ah, Nana will go see that boy and straighten him out -- as always.

Love & blessings
Sandy
